(More customer reviews)I bought this yesterday, and set it up and tested it between yesterday and today.So far I am very impressed.

It was easy to set up on the network using the supplied cd.

Copying was good and fast, as was faxing.

Setting up the OCR for text scanning wasn't as straightforward.I had to search online for info as to why the supplied software, Paperport wasn't seeing the scanner.Brother's control center does do OCR and seemingly very well, but it exports to notepad.You can set up the scanner buttons so that when you select for Scan/OCR on the MFC, it goes to Paperport. You can also select which machine on the network to send the scan to on the MFC.You set up the buttons and associated programs to send to through the Windows control panel, Scanners and cameras, right clicking on the scanner, selecting properties, then events, and assigning the various buttons to programs.

I used Paperport's set up wizard and made it go through the testing routine, of text only document, scan photo in BW, scan photo in color.

Once the OCR is set up properly it is very fast and very accurate.You can send it to Word and it seems to be very accurate in recognizing the text.It doesn't seem to keep the exact formatting though.

One thing to note, it cuts off a small area around the edges of the paper, so make sure anything you scan doesn't go to the edge of the paper.

You can set to scan via ADF legal size paper, but you have to change the setting via the scanner utility setting.
